
Robert (Bob) Freudenrich, a former New Jersey Municipal Management Association president and longtime Glen Rock, NJ, manager, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the age of 90.
Bob was born on June 2, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and from its Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA).
Having first served as Assistant Manager for the Borough of Edgewood, and then Manager of Avalon, PA and Forest Hills, PA, -- all suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA -- he moved to Glen Rock, NJ in 1970. He described the Borough of Glen Rock as "a little bit of heaven," serving as its Borough Manager for 27 years until his retirement on May 4, 1998.
Bob served as NJMMA President in 1979, received the Distinguished Service Award from his NJMMA colleagues in 1993, and became a life member of NJMMA in 1997.
He was also an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Ridgewood; active with the Glen Rock VFW Post 850, as a veteran of the Korean War where he served as an intelligence specialist with the U.S. Army Security Agency. Bob also served on the Board of Glen Courts Senior Housing and was a past member of the American Legion, the Freemasons, and Lions Club International.
